GENERAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

  • Do I need a doctor’s referral for physio?

A medical referral is not required for any physiotherapy review. However, it is desirable to gain a handover including any concerns they have, to ensure you and your child’s wellbeing. Please ask for our intake form for them to fill out prior to your initial appointment.

  • How many times will I need to see you?

In our initial assessment, we will discuss your concerns, goals, and how physio can best help you. We will give an estimate of number and frequency of sessions. Our aim is to empower you and be there to support you if and when you need.

  • How long does it take before I feel better after physiotherapy?

This depends on a few factors. We will discuss expected outcomes each session based on the severity of your issue, how long you have had it for, and what treatment you have received.

  • Do you provide massage or dry needling?

Physio treatment includes a variety of techniques, which can include massage or dry needling if indicated. These modalities may help us relax your muscles or decrease your pain, allowing us to find the root cause and provide target therapy. Before performing any treatment, we will discuss what we would like to do, why, and what the outcome should be.

  • Can you come to my home?

Our paediatric physiotherapist is happy to support home visits on a case-by-case basis. Please send through an enquire to discuss your individual situation.

For women’s Health issues, we prefer you to come into the clinic, where we have appropriate equipment for your assessment and treatment.

WOMEN’S HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY

  • What does your Women’s Health Physio treat?

As a Level 1 trained physio, Emily can effectively assess and treat issues such as incontinence (urinary and faecal), constipation, pelvic pain, pregnancy-related issues, post-partum recovery including abdominal separation or perineal tears, and prolapse. We will always consult with your treating medical practitioners if we have any concerns or need clarification.

  • Do you perform internal examinations?

Our Women’s Health Physiotherapist is Level 1 trained. This means she can observe and palpate areas externally in order to assess and treat any issues in your pelvic region. It is law that a physiotherapist must have further specialised training for internal examinations, which our physio is pursuing in 2024.

  • Can I bring my child in whilst I see the Women’s Health Physio?

Although we want to have full attention on you during your visit, we completely understand that it isn’t always possible to have someone else care for your child. They are welcome in the session and we will support them in any way possible.
